Born in 1978, Alex Lutz is a French actor, comedian and director. After he played several supporting roles on stage, he made his film debut in Michel Hazanavicius's comedy OSS 117: Lost in Rio. His character Catherine in the comedy show Catherine et Liliane made him a household name. He won two Molière awards for comedy in 2016 and 2019. His second film as director, Guy, in 2019, won him the Lumière award and the César award for Best Actor. In 2023, Strangers by Night was shown as the closing film for the Un certain regard section at the Cannes Film Festival.

He directed several classic American films, including Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), the fantasy adventure franchise Indiana Jones and the historical drama The Color Purple in 1985. He solidified his reputation with Jurassic Park and the historical drama Schindler's List (1993). Spielberg has won three Academy Awards, including two for Best Director (in 1994 and 1999), and is also the most profitable filmmaker of all time, with films grossing over $12 billion.
