Penélope Cruz began her career at the age of 16. The first Spanish actress to win an Oscar, for the film Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Woody Allen - 2008), she has proved her versatility by playing a variety of fascinating characters and has won multiple awards for several roles. Her role in Jambon, Jambon by director Bigas Luna brought her to the attention of the general public, and she went on to work with some of the world's greatest directors.
But it was her meeting with director Pedro Almodóvar that marked the beginning of a relationship that has never been broken to this day. Over the course of 25 years, each of their collaborations bears witness to a rare alchemy between two artists. From their first film together, En Chair et en os in 1998, to Madres Paralelas in 2021, via Tout sur ma mère in 1999, Volver in 2006, Etreintes brisées in 2009 and most recently Douleur et Gloire in 2019... their joint filmography has been acclaimed the world over.
